Avant Window Navigator (AWN), a Dock-like for Linux

Avant Window Navigator (AWN) is a dock-like navigation bar for the linux desktop that positions itself at the bottom of the screen. It can be used to keep track of open windows and behaves like a normal window list.

Avant Window Navigator can make you easier to run applications because you no longer have to search for the application through the menu on the Taskbar. With just one click on the application icon that want to run on the AWN Panel, then the application will running. AWN also will make your desktop look more beautiful.

To install AWN on Ubuntu, go to Software Center Ubuntu and then type AWN in the search field. After that, install Avant Window Navigator and wait until the installation is completed.


AWN may also be installed via the Terminal by typing the following command.

Sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator

After the installation is complete, you can run AWN through the menu on the Taskbar as shown below.


AWN panel will then appear at the bottom of your desktop.


You can customize it according to your wishes. For example, if you want to change the style of AWN Panel, then click the Avant Window Navigator on the left corner and then click Dock Preferences.



Then a window will appear as shown in the following figure.


Choose the style of panel that you want then click Close.
